FLATUS Show 279 - Riding on the back of Roosevelt***206-984-3617***

In this episode: Hello! Flatus Show listeners. I bought a turntable at the used record store. I love it that I can get back into my Lps again. There is nothing like listening to Lps. I rant in this episode and talk about Robocop and Elizabeth Sladen. The recorder is back in my life! Now I want to find other recorder pervs so I can play in some recorder ensembles. We will see and I'll let you know. And I still don't understand why people get weird when you mention atheism. Most times they act like they have an Everready battery on their shoulder. Chill out! I am reading through The gospel according to Mark and finding all sorts of interesting things. Who preached repentance and baptism first? Find out during the Bible segment. Check out Retrofoodkink.com for exciting recipes. I have an iPhone so if you have one, we can have FACETIME together! If you have any questions, or comments leave them on the blog, email me at Flatusshow@gmail.com or call me at 206-984-3617. Enjoy and thank you for listening.

Running a few weeks behind on your shows, but at last I am at a place for the moment at work where there is time to squeeze in podcasts listening which ensures I get to listen. It is harder at only the 15 minute commute to work to get through them with any timeliness.

Thank you for all your Bible education. I guess I find it interesting, it is quite a soap opera of high stakes drama. I am surprised you have such drive to study it with no interest in the religion as your religion. I hope you will next tackle the Quran and then on to other religious texts so I get to enjoy your summary of all your studies. I know a tiny bit about several religions and like instead having you educate me rather than having to go back and look at these again and read more. Again i find them all to be interesting stories and they all tend to dead end pretty quickly for any consideration for me when they mention any type of god. Once I see that, I am realizing I am dealing with a fictional text and to go into teh land of talking flowers, unicorns and angry sex and power obsessed higher beings. Not to say in my own beloved Buddhism tale tales are not told. There is a version taht also talks of his mother having a virgin birth, he being able to walk immediately upon birth and lotus blossoms blooming in his steps... His pal a giant blue Ox. Oh wait, that is a different tall tale... The good news is I think most Buddhists of this country and of those of more modern societies know that is just old school story telling and fiction and what I like the most is the religion and daily way of life stands even without the originator of the religion (Shakamuni Buddha) existing at all and he is not claimed to be the only source or future source of the religion. I think most christians need Jesus to have been a real person and story for their belief to hold water, or guess walk on it.

Anyway thank you for the shows and were getting so close to your trip to the west coast! I think you and Kalvin should fins a song you can do play for a duet for either of your listeners!

You know, I finally got Showgirls on blu-ray from Netflix, so I will finally enjoy this Verhoeven business.

I agree that Robocop is eerily prescient. Although I've never actually seen it, but from what you describe. What creeps me out is seeing news reports of events and everyone has out a phone, camera or video camera recording the event. It's like we've created the police state ourselves! It's like the panopticon!

JR - Can't wait for the visit! The countdown is on.

Kalvin - I was thinking the same thing today, about how with Facebook, smart phones, etc. That is there is no privacy. And I was thinking about my podcast, which is essentially a diary of sorts. Imagine if Virginia Woolf had had a podcast? Panopticon indeed.
